The Undergraduate Psychology Journal of UCLA invites submissions related to psychological topics for its upcoming issue. We are looking for research that draws upon the varied areas of psychology and related fields. Research should emphasize possible behavioral, psychobiological, cognitive, neurological, physiological, social, developmental, and/or emotional mechanisms behind psychological functioning.
We invite papers that approach psychological issues from a wide variety of perspectives such as:
- Behavioral neuroscience
- Clinical psychology
- Cognitive psychology
- Developmental psychology
- Learning and behavior
- Measurement and psychometrics
- Social psychology
The Undergraduate Psychology Journal (UPJ) is an on-line refereed journal published by undergraduate students of the University of California, Los Angeles. We are particularly interested in publishing new departures and cross-disciplinary psychological research.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
Overview
All submissions must be in digital format using Microsoft Word or a compatible word processing program.. Please follow all instructions very carefully. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in the delayed review of your submission.
The deadline for submission of manuscripts is January 25th, 2010.
Eligibility
A. Students:
Students from all universities are welcomed to apply. Class standing is limited to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Recent graduates also welcomed provided that the research to be submitted was completed during their undergraduate career. Applications will not be evaluated based on major, so all majors are welcomed.
B. Content:
Research from all psychology-related fields is acceptable.
C. Research:
The research must be empirical in nature, and must be completed under the guidance of a faculty mentor, and a signature of their support is required in the application. Research conducted as a requirement for a course will not be accepted. Exceptions include but are not limited to: Independent research assistantships/internships with a course component, but with an emphasis on independent research.
For UCLA students, this means projects completed for the Departmental Honors Program, Psy 196A or 196B or equivalent, Psy 199A or B, and PROPS. Projects completed on a volunteer basis are also included, provided that they meet the above criteria.

FORMAT
All manuscripts should include the following sections, in order. Manuscripts should be double-spaced (including references, examples, etc) and limited to 20 pages (approx. 5,000 words). Figures and tables should be included within the document and formatted according to APA standards.
