The Southern California Collegiate Badminton
League (SCCBL), which UCLA fondly calls
"skibble", currently consists of 7 institutions
from as far south as San Diego up to the San Luis
Obispo area, including at one time or another
5 of the 9 University of California undergraduate
universities. The League is quite competitive
regionally and nationally and continues
to build in these areas. Recently, two of our
member institutions, UCLA and UCSD, placed 2nd
and 1st, respectively, in the 2005 Collegiate
Nationals. UCSD again placed 1st in the 2006 Collegiate
Nationals.

SCCBL
formed in the 1997-98 academic year to expand collegiate-level
competition in Southern California. Formerly known as
the Southern California Intercollegiate Badminton Leauge
(SCIBL), the League consisted then of UCLA, UCI, UCSD,
USC, Cal Poly SLO, and Caltech. League administration,
consisting of representatives from each member institution,
meets at least once prior to the earliest start date of
any one school to formulate goals, develop the annual
schedule, discuss League growth, and, most importantly,
come together as a League. Outside of the general meeting,
day-to-day activities are attended to through an on-line
forum on Yahoo Groups.
