AATP is a joint organization
of UCLA, USC, and Occidental College that seeks to
inspire Los Angeles Chinatown’s immigrant youth through
tutoring and mentoring services, and helps to advocate their
attainment of a higher education by providing them
assistance in overcoming the language, cultural, and
socioeconomic barriers they face.
The purpose of AATP is to provide tutoring and mentoring services to elementary school-aged children, primarily in the Los Angeles Chinatown area, by giving the Project's members an opportunity to interact with the children on academic, social, and recreational levels. The mission is to provide tutoring and mentoring services to the children of Castelar Elementary such that they are equipped and inspired to pursue a higher education.
