1. The official name of this organization shall be Asian Pacific Health Corps, hereafter abbreviated as APHC. 2. APHC is an officially recognized, student-run volunteer organization at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Article II: Purpose1. To promote, increase, or otherwise elevate community awareness of the specific and growing healthcare needs in the Asian and Pacific Islander populations. 2. To provide undergraduate and graduate students with necessary support services, incentives, and information to pursue careers in the professional healthcare fields. Article III: Membership1. The general membership of APHC shall consist of UCLA students from all fields of study, staff, and faculty who are interested in healthcare issues related to the Asian and Pacific Islander populations. 2. Members shall have the right to general voting privileges and participation in all official functions of the project. 3. Members must have a firm commitment to the goals and objectives of the project. 4. Active membership entails attendance of four healthsites with at least one per quarter, three general meetings per quarter, two socials per year (one of which should be a culture night or conference), and either one bagel sale per quarter or one TV taping per year. 5. Members shall also conduct all group-related activities in compliance with the policies and regulations of the University of California. 6. Membership is free of charge. Article IV: Statement of Non-discrimination1. The Asian Pacific Health Corps, in accordance with applicable Federal and State Law and University Policy, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, medical condition, ancestry, marital status, citizenship, or sexual orientation. APHC also prohibits sexual harassment. 2. This non-discrimination policy covers organization membership, access to organization programs and activities, and the general treatment of its members. Article V: Internal Organization1. Executive Board: The Executive Board comprises of seven Project Directorship positions with one or more directors per directorship as appropriate. Positions of directorship shall be elected by the Executive Board. · Program Director: Direct educational and screening services. Represent APHC to external parties. Oversee the APHC representatives and liaisons for outreach programs. Prepare general meeting agendas. Assist Health Fair Directors as needed. · Health Fair Director: Direct APHC sponsored / co-sponsored health fairs. Oversee health fair committees (Contact, Volunteer, Publicity, Logistics, Entertainment and Finance) for three health fairs each year. Prepare health fair meeting agendas. Communicate and collaborate with other student organizations. · Internal Administrative Director: Direct membership communication. Maintain volunteer records and update APHC websites as needed. Prepare materials for meetings. Reserve meeting facilities. · External Administrative Director: Direct recruitment, training, and transportation. Prepare advertising materials. Reserve training facilities. · Finance Director: Direct fundraising activities. Manage APHC accounts. Maintain equipment and supply inventory. Prepare mini-fund proposals as needed. · Student Affairs Director: Coordinate
programs specifically for volunteers. Organize socials, ice-breakers,
the year-end banquet, and panel discussions. Manage the Pre-Professional
Mentorship program. 2. Assistant Directors: Assistant Directors include APHC representatives for outreach programs and health fair committee chairs. Assistant Directors are appointed in the Fall Quarter by the Executive Board based on experience and dedication. · APHC Coordinators for Outreach Programs:The APHC coordinators consist of: (a) Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches (A3M) representative, (b) Asian Pacific Coalition (APC) representative, (c) Community Programs Office (CPO) representative, and (d) Asian Pacific American Health Collaboration, Access, Resource, Education (APA Health C.A.R.E.) representative. Responsibilities of each position are subject to change depending on the needs of the organization. · Health Fair Committee Chairs: Two chairs are appointed by the Executive Board for each committee (Contact, Volunteer, Publicity, Entertainment, and Finance). Committee chairs assist Health Fair Directors in the planning and implementation of health fairs and oversee committee members. Article VI: Sponsorship1. APHC at UCLA is funded by the Community Activities Committee of the Program Activities Board. Article VII: Voting1. The power to vote shall be accorded to members who fulfill the active membership criteria (see Article III, Section 4), or members who possess a past or present elected position within the organization. Article VIII: Amendments1. The specific content of this constitution may be amended when deemed necessary by a consensus of the organization’s active membership, but never in such a way as to conflict with the policies and regulations of UCLA. 2. All members must be properly notified of the proposed amendment and the time and place for the scheduled vote. 3. Final approval of the proposed amendment must be by a two-thirds vote of the majority present. Article IX: Overall Nature of the Constitution1. All constitutions, by-laws, charters, and/or operating procedures shall be in compliance with the University policies and regulations and be approved by the sponsoring unit. 2. Authorized University officials shall have the right to audit all financial records of the organization upon request. |
