About Bruins for Animals! |
|
Bruins for Animals! (BFA, formerly known as the University Students for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or USETA) is a student-run organization at the University of California, Los Angeles. Co-founded by Peter Ryan and Kristy Anderson, what began in 2003 as a small club has grown into its big heart, welcoming individuals dedicated to expanding humanity’s circle of compassion to include animals. The group meets weekly, but its accomplishments are much fostered in the time and effort put in by its members. The group hosts at least one large event per quarter; past events have included fundraisers for outside organizations working against animal cruelty, documentary showings, and events such as “Thanks-Go-Vegan,” which promote the vegan lifestyle. BFA’s long-term projects include the anti-vivisection campaign and the veg* food campaign. BFA members also promote animal rights continuously throughout the school year by leafleting on campus and tabling at relevant UCLA events. The organization loves bringing people together over a favorite: cruelty-free food! BFA holds very successful vegan potlucks several times throughout the school year. Members and nonmembers alike never tire of the great food and conversation. Please note that everyone is welcome to participate in BFA, despite any differing opinions towards the animal rights movement!
