Greetings Fellow Travellers!
First I'd like to welcome all of you back from whatever edge of the planet you may be returning from. I hope the reprise, if you got one, was rewarding.
Things are wrapping to a close here at the University Buddhist Association for this quarter. This Tuesday, November 28th, we have our weekly meditation with Rev. Kusala at the University Catholic Center, located at 633 Gayley Ave, starting at 5:00pm. For those of you who came last week and had to watch me fumble through a session, be sure to come on back to get a sense for what a regular UBA meeting is like. I'm sure it will be much more enjoyable and enlightening.
Our last meditation of the quarter will be next week, December 5th. We will then take a break corresponding to the winter break for students at the university. For non-students, be sure not to come December 12th, as there will be no meditation then. Just watch this list and on the website to see when we return. I'll remind you folks again next week - just be sure to start internalizing it.

Greetings Fellow Travellers!
I'm sure that each of you are planning your journey for this coming Thanksgiving holiday, whether up down and about the land or within the heart - perhaps it is a comfort to know that, among the hustle and bustle the UBA persists.
Once again, we have our regular weekly meditation this Tuesday, November 21st, starting at 5:00pm at the UCC on 633 Gayley Ave. More information, as usual, is on our website, www.theUBA.org [editor's note for the blog edition: How silly is such a statement on the interweb - that's right here!]
Otherwise, I wish you all a fun, peaceful, and safe holiday, and I'll see you next week.

Thanksgiving at the URC

This is the second e-mail of the week, so I will attempt to keep things short. First, I want to mention that this is the first mailing-list website blog parallel update, since some of our members are having difficulties getting the responses from the mailing list. Let us know what you think of the new format by e-mailing buddhist@ucla.edu.
I brought this up at our weekly meditation meeting, but for those who are hearing it for the first time, the University Religious Conference is having an interreligious Thanksgiving meal, November 21st, at the URC offices for students who won't be able to return home for thanksgiving, or for students who want to share fellowship with other students from different faiths over this holiday of Thanksgiving. The dinner is provided free of charge, and commences at 6:30pm. Here's all the information:
Thanksgiving at the URC an interfaith Thanksgiving meal 900 Hilgard Ave, Los Angeles Tuesday, November 21st, 6:30pm
If you're interested, please RSVP by e-mailing buddhist@ucla.edu as soon as possible. We need to RSVP as a group on this coming Friday.
Also, as was mentioned in the previous e-mail, we have a guest speaker from the Tibetan tradition coming to visit us at UCLA tomorrow, November 16th. Here's all the information once more:

Dharma Talk with Tag Dag Rinpoche
Thursday, November 09, 2006
|
I am pleased to announce that Tag Dag Rinpoche, a Chinese nun ordained in Tibetan Buddhism, will be coming to UCLA to give a dharma talk to our group on Thursday, November 16, from 4-6pm. The talk will take place in Ackerman 3508. If you can't make it at 4pm, don't worry. We will be in the room for two hours, so just drop by whenever you want during those two hours. Late is better than not at all!
Tag Dag Rinpoche will be speaking about Attachment, and then will open up to a Q&A afterwards. Time permitting, she will also teach us Tibetan-style meditation. We are very excited to have her come and we are hoping that we will see you all there!
