Wow, is it fourth week already? The weeks are flying by this quarter. Hopefully we're all taking time to enjoy them, moment by moment, day by day, midterm by midterm. Also, we hope everybody and their families are staying safe with all of the recent wildfires in the area!
As for the UBA, we're continuing our weekly meditation and dharma discussion meetings this week, Tuesdays from 5:30-7 pm at the UCC at 633 Gayley. One important thing to note is that we will NOT be having a meeting next week, on October 30th, but we will resume our regularly scheduled program the 6th of November.
Also, we would like to remind you of an upcoming service event with St. Vincent de Paul, an organization at the UCC, on Saturday, November 3rd. We will be making sandwiches and then delivering them to the homeless in Los Angeles. Afterwards we are planning a picnic social for our own club. More details will follow.
We are also planning a retreat with Deer Park Monastery for the weekend of the 9-11 of November. More details as to cost, ride situation, etc, to follow, but we will let you know ASAP.
The bonfire this last Saturday was a great success! We are glad that so many of you could make it and that we could meet with Buddhist students from other universities. I took a few pictures which will shortly be uploaded to the Yahoo photo account, as well as on the Facebook group. Good to see so many of you out there!
Have a great week and see you Tuesday (tomorrow).

Hello everyone,
It was so great to see all the new faces at our first meeting on Tuesday! For those of you who couldn't make it, feel free to join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, October 9th from 5:30-7 pm at the UCC (633 Gayley Ave). We will be getting back to regular dharma discussions and meditations with Rev. Kusala and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
As a side note, we would also like to invite those with Facebook to join our Facebook group Between the website, the Facebook group, and our weekly emails we will keep you all updated on the events we are planning for this quarter (and suggestions for events are definitely welcome!)
Something that I thought might be of interest as well, being members of the Buddhist community, are a few websites related to the current situation in Burma:
A great general, informative site: http://www.buddhistchannel.tv/
To learn more about how to get involved: http://www.uscampaignforburma.org/
UCLA Facebook group: http://ucla.facebook.com/group.php?gid=24957770200
Let's hope that this issue can be worked out in a nonviolent manner that is beneficial to all involved.
