Hello everyone,
We would like to invite all of you to our annual Vesak Day celebration this Saturday, May 17th, from 2-5:30 pm! Vesak Day is one of the major holidays in the Buddhist tradition, celebrating the Buddha's birth, and ours will feature guest and student speakers, cultural performances, food, and the traditional bathing the Baby Buddha ceremony.
Presented in conjunction with the Southern California University Buddhist Association (SCUBA), it will be held this year at the UC Irvine campus. We may be able to offer a limited number of rides to and from UC Irvine the day of the event, but if you would like to go, have a car, and are willing to drive other people, we would greatly appreciate it! If so, please email us as soon as you are able so we can get a head count going. Also, if you would like to go but do not have access to a car, RSVP to us as soon as you are able and we will see what we can do!
The details:
Where: UC Irvine Cross Cultural Center (intersection of Pereira and W. Peltason) When: Saturday, May 17th 2-5:30 pm (doors open at 1:30) Parking: More details will be sent out as they become available.
****** And of course, we continue with our regular meditation meetings this Tuesday night, from 5:30-7 pm, in the UCC (633 Gayley). Our meetings are facilitated by Rev. Kusala, who leads us in a dharma discussion, followed by a chance to ask questions and meditate. Hope to see you all then!
Any questions, comments, and RSVP's can be sent to ucla.uba.online@gmail.com

Just a quick reminder about our regular meditation meeting this Tuesday from 5:30 - 7pm at the UCC (633 Gayley). Our meetings are facilitated by Rev. Kusala, who leads the group in a dharma discussion followed by a chance to ask questions and meditate.
Also, to any of you who might be technologically/web-design-minded, Don Farber, a local photographer specializing in photographs of Buddhist life, is looking for a student volunteer interesting in helping him rework his website and help him to learn the program Dreamweaver at the same time. Let us know as soon as you can if you are interested and we can get you in contact with him. Mr. Farber's website can be viewed at http://www.buddhistphotos.com - even if you're not able to help him out, do visit the website if you get a chance as the photographs are beautiful!
Thanks, and we hope to see you on Tuesday evening!

We hope you're staying cool in this hot weather! May we remind you that the UCC is always kept at a very cool temperature? In case you are in need of some free air conditioning AND would like to come learn more about Buddhism, come see us at our regular Tuesday night meeting, 5:30-7pm, at the UCC at 633 Gayley. Our meetings feature a dharma discussion facilitated by Rev. Kusala and are followed by a chance to ask questions and then to meditate.
Also, a big thank you to everyone who came to our social event last weekend - it was a great success! We might plan for another one by the end of the quarter, so keep an eye out for that. As for this weekend, Jason Kung, one of our regular members, has sent us information about an event at a Long Beach monastery that is planning a children's celebration on Sunday. As a result, they would love to have volunteers to help set things up for the event on Saturday as well as Sunday. More information is available here. Most of the UBA staff will likely not be able to attend, but Jason has offered to drive a carload on Sunday if anyone is interested - shoot us an email at ucla.uba.online@gmail.com if you are!
Thanks everybody, hope to see you tomorrow evening!
