Organizing
Forming a national
players association will establish a voice that demands to be heard. Football players only have up to five years
in NCAA sports so there is no time to waste!
The NCAA won’t listen to
one school. It is going to take all Division
one football teams to come together for meaningful change to occur. It is vital that each Division I football
team organize itself with a sense of urgency because progress cannot be made
until every school is united across the nation.
This task is not as
difficult as it appears to be. There
are three steps:
1. Each football team must create a registered student
group on campus -this usually only takes a few people and a statement of
purpose. Forming these groups give
student-athletes privileges that even the NCAA cannot tamper with.
2. Support from all of the members of each team should
be generated. This group cannot claim
to serve football players’ interests at your school if it has not acquired
support from the vast majority of football players.
3. Form an affiliation with the CAC.
The players
association will be complete once every football team in Division I has
completed these steps.
