INTERNAL

CPO Food Closet
We would like to ask all our CCM members to help fill CPO food closet that is designed for students who are in facing financial trouble and may not have enough money to buy food. We encourage everyone to bring in items to donate for the food closet. Items that are especially useful are microwavable food options like Mac and cheese, soups, cereals, snack bars, and juice boxes. PLEASE NOTE that large sizes of these items are not as useful as sizes that can be easily carried. We will have a box at our general meetings so anyone that wants to donate can place it in the box. Thank you for all your help.

OUTSIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Statewide Call to Action to Defend Public Education at UC Regents Meeting*

WHAT?
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 18th: PRESS CONFERENCE AND RALLY COVEL COMMONS @ 10:00 AM!!

THURSDAY, NOV. 19th: STATE-WIDE RALLY TO DEFEND PUBLIC EDUCATION AND HOLD REGENTS ACCOUNTABLE, COVEL COMMONS @ 10:00 AM!!

WHY?
The UC Regents will be meeting at UCLA November 17-19th and will be voting on proposed fee hikes of 32% over the rest of the 2009-2010 school year. This is in addition to the 9.3% fee increase last spring. If these fee hikes pass, it will be the first time in the history of the University of California that fees will exceed $10,000 per year. Why are we paying more for less?

In solidarity with unions and faculty, the students of the University of California seek the following:

▪LOWER STUDENT FEES
▪STOP THE PRIVATIZATION OF OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
▪DEFEND THE RIGHT TO QUALITY HIGHER EDUCATION
▪PRIORITIZE FUNDING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION
▪STOP THE RESEGREGATION OF PUBLIC EDUCATION
▪ENSURE ACCESS AND DIVERSITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION
▪RESPECT WORKERS’ RIGHTS AND CONTRACTS
