    Membership Information

BE A PART OF CCM
      If you share our commitment to the underserved, we strongly encourage you to become involved with CCM. By becoming involved, you open up an opportunity to become more aware of current health issues, interact with other Chicanos(as)/Latinos(as) at UCLA, as well as provide yourself with the support needed to succeed as an undergraduate pre-med or pre-health student.

CCM ACTIVITIES

  • Weekly meetings with guest speakers from health professional schools, administrators, community leaders and admission committee members.

  • Academic and moral support through peer counseling and networking with other pre-med and pre-health students, medical students, and community leaders throughout California

  • Access to scholarships, internships, research positions, employment and other academic support.

  • Trips to Pre-Medical Conferences and California Medical Schools

  • Community service conferences provided through:

    •       Donation of Tissues & Organs Project (DoT Org)
          Black / Latino Aids Project (BLAIDS)
          Latino Student Health Project (LSHP)

        Membership Requirements

    Active membership per quarter in CCM requires the individual to:

    a. Attend at least 50% of the meetings
    b. Participate in at least two community service activities from at least two different projects (LSHP and/or BLAIDS and/or DoT Org)
    c. Attend two fundraisers
    d. Attend three academic events*
    e. Or to have two participatory quarters within the same academic year

    Participatory membership per quarter in CCM requires the individual to:

    a. Attend at least 50% of the meetings
    b. Participate in at least one community service activity (LSHP and/or BLAIDS and/or DoT Org)
    c. Attend one fundraiser
    d. Attend three academic events*

    *Academic Credit
     1 academic credit =
          + Complete 6 hours of Study Hall  (min. of 2 credits from study hall)
          + Attend 4 Professors' Office hours
                  + Download Professor Office Hours Sheet
           + Attend a workshop
          + Make a 4-year plan with counselor or myself
          + Turn in three exams
