Our objective lies in mentoring the youth residing in the Angelina and Casa Heiwa apartment complexes, in the Echo Park and Little Tokyo communities of Los Angeles. CHAMPs provides academic and social support for each child at their residence and within their community. At CHAMPs we acknowledge the importance of bringing unity among our children and providing a safe environment in which to learn and grow.

Mentors meet at the top of Bruinwalk, across the street from De Neve Plaza, at 8:45 AM, and are returned to UCLA by 1:00 PM.

We hope that you had an excellent three-day weekend. Site resumes this Saturday, January 23. Meet us in the morning at the top of Bruinwalk across from De Neve Acacia, around 8:45am. The bus will leave no later than 9am. A light breakfast will be provided once we arrive at Angelina. We will be back at UCLA before 1pm.
We plan to continue with our theme for this quarter, the five senses. This week, we plan cover taste with a presentation on nutrition. A craft is also in the works.
Please RSVP by email with your plan to attend; it will make all of the remaining planning we have for site much easier.

Thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday and helped kick off the CHAMPs quarter right! We look forward to working with you all in the coming weeks and months. This is a reminder that, due to the MLK holiday this weekend, we will not be holding site. Our next site will be Saturday, January 23. Look out for an email next week for details on logistics for that site.
For new and returning mentors who are interested in attending an orientation session, we will be holding them tomorrow, January 13, in Ackerman 2410. There are four 30-minute sessions, from 4-6pm (one at 4, one at 4:30, one at 5, and one at 5:30). We look forward to seeing you there to give you a brief overview about who we are and what we do!

Hello mentors and prospective mentors,
CHAMPs is back and having its first site this Saturday, January 9. We will meet at the top of Bruinwalk across from De Neve Acacia at 8:45am; rides to site will leave at 9am. Breakfast is provided at site. If this will be your first time, we're fairly easy to spot; look for people in green CHAMPs shirts.
This quarter's theme will be the senses. Come out and help us deliver our first academic activity on this topic and a fun craft!
Also, this week we are going to be going to and from site with CSC vans and cars instead of a bus; therefore it is imperative that you reply to this email RSVPing if you plan on coming so we can ensure that we have a spot for you.

If you are new to CHAMPs, or have been to our sites before but would like more background information about our program, we will be holding orientations this week and next. Dates/times/places are:
