Frente Estudiantil Laboral
(Student Worker Front)
conciencia libre works to improve labor conditions on the UCLA campus. We have supported UCLA workers of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union Local 3299, in their struggle against subcontracting, short staffing, wage cuts, dignity in the workplace, and a better standard of living. Our participation has included flyering, visiting workers at their workplace, their homes, also organizing student support for rallies, and the unionization of ASUCLA workers.

Proyecto de Jornaleros
(Day Laborer Project)
In collaboration with the Popular Education Institute of Southern California (IDEPSCA), based in the Pico Union area of Los Angeles and the Downtown (Los Angeles) Community Job Center, conciencia libre gives jornaleros (day laborers) English classes and one on one literacy classes. Through these classes UCLA students are able to learn 1st hand about the social injustices that recent immigrants endure in the US.
