First off, congratulations to UCLA Club Tennis' Competitive Team for finishing 29th out of ALL THE CLUBS IN THE NATION!! Great job guys! We expect even greater accomplishments in the future!

The Competitive Team headed over to the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades for the annual Post-Regionals scrimmage against Riviera's members! UCLA and USC, this year's finalists and champions, were invited to this special event. Pictures can be found on facebook here.
Ladies from the Competitive Team (and some of their friends) independently rendezvoused at the only Baskin Robbins to offer cake-decorating classes for the general public (25426 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance CA 90505).
The ladies learned how to frost and decorate their own cakes to take home!

04/08/09 ----- Special Easter/Nationals Edition!
With Spring well in effect, the flowers are a-blooming and the birds all a-singing, so of course it's also time for a new site layout!
The eggs associated with Easter, and hence Spring, hold a special meaning for members of our competitive team. During Regionals, a new idiom was sprung: "Crack those eggs, lalalaaas !!!"

As announced by Club President Emily Watt:
Officer recruitment: it's already spring and for us that means we're looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and energetic people to lead our Club for next year! I will be giving up my role as President next year, which currently is slated to be filled by my VP but if you have ideas and the motivation to lead our club in that capacity or position of treasurer, activities coordinator and general officer please email me! We would love to see Club Tennis to continue at UCLA with your help :)
We will be looking to add more events as the quarter progresses, so stay tuned!
03/11/09 ----- California Cup
The California Cup became a repeat tournament of the North and Southern California Sectionals, as NorCal swept SoCal in the first round. Stanford defeated Cal in the supertiebreak to take home the championship, while USC defeated UCLA to confirm their position as top in LA. Overall USC placed 5th, and UCLA 6th.

02/25/09 ----- Regionals Concluded!

For the sixth time in six years, UCLA earns an automatic bid to the National Championships!
Bruin Blue placed second in the Regional Championships, and Bruin Gold sacrificed a possible third-place finish to support the Blue team. For the first time in its school history, USC took home the Regional Championships Title as the Bruins faltered in a 27-12 loss to the Trojans in the finals.

02/21/09 ----- Two UCLA Teams Advance To Quarters
Both UCLA teams advanced to the quarterfinals today. UCLA Blue, seeded second in the tournament, took out Cal State Fullerton 30-6 and dispatched UCSD (B) 30-8. UCLA Gold faced a tougher lineup, but predominated over the competition with wins over UCSB (A) and last year's finalists, UCI (A).
The quarters begin Sunday morning at 9AM. Semis are expected to be at 11:30, with the finals around 3PM.
01/29/09 ----- Tentative Regionals Squad Formed
With the addition of Kingson Leung, the coaches have completed the roster of 8 Men, 8 Women, in contention for a spot representating UCLA at the Regional Championships. While the team roster has not been set in stone, the coaches will not be fielding any additional tryout requests barring extenuating circumstances and/or an exceptional series of match results.

It is now 1:48AM, and with Tryout signups closed at 11:59PM, the draws are now posted!
There are a few important things to take note of:
| Play format | 2 out of 3 sets, NO AD (sudden death at 3-3 aka 40-all) |
| First to 5-points Tiebreaker played at 6-6 in the set | |
| If set score is 1-1, play a 5-point tiebreaker to decide | |
| Timeliness | Some matches will go overtime, so subsequent matches may start later |
| Showing up more than 15 minutes late after a court is ready for you WILL result in a default | |
| Tournament format | Double-Elimination |
| If you lose first round, check the draw! You WILL get one more match on Saturday and/or Sunday! Check the Tier II/Backdraw to see when you play next. | |
| Sunday End Time | Finals are scheduled for 12:30PM Sunday, but may go later. Check back Saturday night. |
| Matches with times led by "Sunday" are played on Sunday. If there's no mention of a day, they are played on Saturday | |
| Issued invites | There is no pre-set quantity of invites the coaches will distribute. It may just be the finalists; or, it may go as far as the quarters! |

Play format: probably 6-game proset
The ending time on Sunday depends on the size of our draw and how many matches are completed Saturday. Please be sure to check the draw either late Friday night/early Saturday morning (it should be on the club website, http://www.uclaclubtennis.com, by 4AM).
Also, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled match time and check in with an officer. If we have free courts you can warm up, or we could start your match sooner. Being more than 15 minutes late without notice may result in a default.

01/07/09 ----- Competitive Team Tryouts
This tournament is specifically for competitive players who would like to become a part of UCLA Club Tennis' Competitive Team!
Represent UCLA as we fight for our sixth-consecutive Regional Championship Title in February, and strive towards the National Championships in April!
Success at the tryouts will NOT guarantee placement onto the regionals and/or nationals teams, but will give you one more (important!) chance to impress the coaches.
The tournament will take place throughout Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 9AM.
Signups will be accepted in two ways:
1) Post the following information on this facebook event wall:

2) E-mail Coach Adeline with the above information (Name, sex, graduation year)
Sign-ups close Friday at 11:59PM, and the draw will be posted a few hours later.
