DoT Org (Donation of Tissues and Organs) at UCLA began as a
student initiated effort to educate and increase consciousness within
UCLA students and members of the surrounding communities concerning the
myths and facts of organ/tissue donations.
DoT Org has adopted this mission to
spread the word and importance of organ and tissue donation in an
effort to augment donor turnout within the inner Los Angeles community.
The Los Angeles area hold within itself a boiling pot of minority
cultures that would benefit from the information set forth by the DoT
Org campaign. With detailed information pamphlets and donor cards at
hand, DoT Org hopes to dispel common myths and misconceptions that
surround organ donation, and, in doing so, recruit persons who are
willing to save lives by donating their organs.
Our goal is to raise consciousness of
organ and tissue donation within the community through on and off
campus events. With the collective effort of volunteers, DoT Org will
reach the community through public health fairs, pre-medical
conferences, high school sites, and other general community-based sites
in the Los Angeles area. |
