| ENGINuity – Constitution
Article I: Purpose: ENGINuity exists for students, especially engineering students, who wish to take the information they have learned in classes and apply it on actual engineering projects. Projects will then compete in competitions across the nation. Members will gain exposure to many fundamental engineering skills that cannot be taught within the classroom. Members will also gain exposure to industry and UCLA engineering faculty. ENGINuity essentially increase the pride of those within the department of engineering at UCLA. Article II: Non- Discrimination: ENGINuity, a UCLA engineering club, does not discriminate on any bases for purposes of membership, operations, activities, policies, and/or practices, except in regard to UCLA status for club officers (see article VI) Article III: Membership All UC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their guests are eligible to join. Membership is not a requirement for participation in club general meetings. Members, however, will most likely participate in engineering projects and must be motivated and dedicated individuals. Article IV: Operations: ENGINuity will hold a general club meeting every month during each quarter. During this meeting new members may be acquired, general plans may be conceived, and project status will be discussed. Members and non-members may come to these meetings. More specific meetings will take place once a week during the school year. Only members may come to these meetings. At the meetings plans will be drawn up for projects and members will be assigned specific duties whether it may be project specific or club specific. Engineering workshop meetings will take place regularly during the week. We will try and get as much time in the workshop so that members may be free to come and go. During these casual meetings the designs will implemented and the projects will be created. Article V: Voting Procedures At the end of the spring quarter of each school year voting will take place at the last general meeting of the year. During this time a majority vote by the members of the club will decide the next year’s Presidents, Vice-President, and Secretary. Amendments to the constitution and other major decisions will also take place during this time. These decisions will be made by a majority vote of the members of the club.
The presidents will be in charge of appointing team leaders for the projects, running the meetings, and making crucial decisions for the benefit of the club. The vice-president will be in charge of conducting order at meetings, helping to run the meetings and other duties that assist the presidents. The secretary will be in charge of general club stuff. He/she will account for all the funds, implement plans to raise funds, and advertise for the club. The secretary will also be in charge of making financial records available to authorized University officials upon request. Article VII: Teams Teams will be assembled by the Presidents according to the engineering
background of the students. Teams will consist of members and a team leader.
The team leader will be in charge of making sure that the team is a cohesive
unit and that the team is on schedule with construction of the projects.
