I thought I would share some very relevant information with you all.
-Loving vs. Virginia is the Supreme Court Case that legalized interracial marriage in the United States. This was decided on June 12, 1967, making today the 40th Anniversary of that decision.
I hope that everyone can take a minute to reflect on this and realize the importance and the impact of this decision.
History:
In 1958, Richard Loving, a white man, married Mildred Jeter, a black woman, in Washington, DC. When they moved to Virginia, the Lovings were accused of violating the state's anti miscegenation laws under the Racial Integrity Act. Their sentence, a year in prison, would be suspended if they left the state for 25 years. Living in Washington, they sued to overturn their conviction, claiming that they were denied equal protection under Amendment XIV. On June 12, 1967, in Loving v. Virginia, the US Supreme Court overturned the conviction, ruling that anti miscegenation statutes were unconstitutional.

Because now I'm not allowed to stop rhyming:
I know your stessed,
Your professors not the best,
And now you have a test,
But you need a rest,
So leave your tiny nest,
And meet at Reiber lest,
be punched in the chest,
ha that's just a jest.
Not gonna lie, this one is not my best, midterms suck. Which is why were replacing
our meeting with a dorm dinner. So come out and vent with us.
Monday May 7th,
7:00 Reiber Dinning hall.
We're ballers, we have premier, so Apartment dwellin folk are welcome. See you there

Hey everyone! Hope all of your vactions are going
well! That said, Winter Quarter is just around the
corner. We will be updating you soon on the meeting
time and room for next quarter, so keep your eyes
open!
More importantly, we will be ordering our Hapa Club Tshirts during Winter Quarter, and we are hoping to get all orders ASAP. The shirts will take 2 weeks to ship, so in order to enjoy them by 5th week, we have to get everyone's order by the end of 3rd week, but the sooner the better. Here's the info:
- Originally, we voted the shirts, black print on grey shirts. In reality, this looked dull and crappy. Trust me!
-Instead, the shirts will be light blue on Black. -The shirts will be ONLY $10 each!!! -They must be prepaid -We will NOT order extras -We can bring the price down the more we order (SO TELL YOUR HAPA BUDDIES!) -The sizes are Youth Sml-XL to adult Sml-XL (girls may want youth sizes so the shirts aren't so long)
Here is a reduced size version of the concept:
I promise you WILL recieve your shirt, and you will recieve it ASAP. We can thank Gala for designing our
shirt this year! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, they are more than welcome! I
will be asking for sizes and money starting at our first meeting. If you are already sure that you want one,
feel free to send me your name and your size, and a reminder to bring your money will be included in our
first notice about our first meeting. Thanks everyone!
11/30/05
Hey everyone, hope you all had wonderful weekends and didn't get stuck in too much traffic in your travels.

for us.

WHEN: THURSDAY 12/1, 6PM
WHO: Everyone! Even if you have never been to a meeting or event before, please don't be shy and come on Thursday!
Here's the plan: Everyone come to the meeting with some kind of "gift" item ( < $5 value, this is not some fancy schmancy thing, just for fun) but make sure it's wrapped/covered, this could even mean it's in a plastic grocery bag if that's all you have! That's all you need to know for now, we'll explain the game at the meeting, but just FYI it's best if you bring something weird and off the wall.
****ALSO don't forget to bring your Hapa Club t-shirt design ideas to the meeting as this week is the deadline and we'll be voting on designs at the meeting!!*****
