Mission Statement

GCF is a community of Christians in an academic environment seeking to become more like Christ in every aspect of our lives. We manifest this through several aspects of GCF activities:

  1. Practically working out Christ's Love (1 Cor 13:4-7)
    1. Within our community
      1. Develop unity and common purpose (Col 3:14)
      2. Serving and supporting one another
    2. Be active and available to the world (Mat 5:13-16)
      1. Encourage sharing God's word (Mat 28:19)
      2. Being receptive to new members and visitors, and helping them to integrate into our community
      3. Provide Christian resources to our community, and direct people to other resources
      4. Visibility as Christian academics: to the UCLA community, to the Church, and to the world (1 Peter 3:15)
  2. Facilitating Spiritual Growth (Eph 4:14)
    1. Growth within the community
      1. Seek out the truth of God's Word, which works in us to change us into the image of Christ (Deut 8:3, Psalm 119)
      2. Encourage and define integration of faith, learning, and life
      3. Discover, develop, and use gifts and calling
      4. Provide accountability to foster continuous development
    2. Growth of the community
      1. Building a spiritual community over extended time (Col 3:12-16)
      2. Pass down vision and life of group to future GCF members
      3. Encourage discipleship and mentorship (e.g., with faculty)
      4. Enable inteaction (and learning) from future GF alumni

Activities

Large Group Meetings

Large group meetings are held on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. We typically have about 20 people. We begin with several worship songs, and then move into the discussion topic for the week. We then break up into smaller groups for prayer if there is time.

After the meeting is over, many of us typically walk down to one of the local restaurants or coffee shops in Westwood for more food and fellowship :)

Prayer Meetings

We have several prayer meetings that meet on a weekly basis. Please feel free to contact us for more details:

Other Bible Studies

In the past, GCF members have conducted other bible studies, but nobody is doing one right now. If you are interested in starting one, please let us know.

Weekly Lunch

Every week on Monday at 12:00, several of us meet at Ackerman outside the Coop for lunch. Contact Tim Prescott for details.

Community Service

A few times a quarter, a group of us go out into the community to help out others in need in the name of Jesus. Contact us or see the schedule on the announcements page.

Fellowship Potluck

Usually the first Saturday of every month. Contact Tim for details or see the schedule on the announcements page.

Other Events

[Dancers]
