Officers 2006

President
Tsubasa Yamaguchi
Hi everyone, my name is Tsubasa Yamaguchi. I'm a cognitive science major and this is now my third year at UCLA. I was born in the US and have never lived in Japan, yet I've somehow become the president of the Japanese Student Association at UCLA. People seem to be surprised at how well I speak Japanese, but that's because I went to Saturday Japanese school for 12 years.
I listen to too much J-music, I have too many J-movies (if that's what it's called), and I eat too much Mexican food.
Whoever's looking at this, hope you come and join us!

Vice President and Event Organizer
Mitsuko Mori
My name is Mitsuko Mori and I'm a senior Microbiology major at UCLA. I am a vice president and an event organizer for JSA. My role as an event organizer is to plan student-based events that are fun and meaningful to all JSA members. This year, we are planning several big events involving other colleges and corporations from US and Japan, so please don't miss them!
To tell you a little about myself, surfing has been a large part of my life since my high school years. I usually surf at LA/OC beaches, but I also love taking surftrips to places like Tahiti, Hawai'i, and Indonesia. I hope you enjoy being a part of JSA this year, and I will do my best to make it happen!

Event Planner
Satoko Yasuda
Hi! My name is Satoko. I'm a senior communication major. As an event planner, I'll be working behind the scenes to provide you with some exciting JSA events. I hope these events will help spice up your school life. While I'm very good at pretending to be shy and quiet, I actually love to be crazy. So please feel free to talk to me, and let's have some fun together!

Public Relations
Takashi Nishioka
I'm Takashi Nishioka, and I'm an economics major and accounting minor. Now I'm a senior student and am expecting to graduate next March. I like to do many things, but especially playing soccer and snowboarding are my first choices. My dream is to save enough money and retire early and then build two houses in Okinawa and Hokkaido to spend the rest of my life in peace. For that reason, I have to work hard while I'm young, so I'm planning to work at an investment bank for a while. I'm very glad to meet you all and am honored to be the JSA PR officer this year. Thank you.

Event Planner
Kaori Tabata
Hi everyone!! I'm Kaori and I am the event planer for JSA this year. I will try my best to plan fun events for all of you. So if you have something you would like to do as part of JSA, please feel free to come talk to me about your ideas. I will be looking forward to seeing you all at JSA events, and let's make this the best year ever!!

Career Coordinator
Shunsuke Sako
Hi, my name is Shunsuke Sako. I am a senior sociology major student. I plan to provide a lot of opportunities that might help you to find/realize your future career. If you have any questions or concerns about your job-hunting, feel free to come talk to me. Or, if you just want to discuss with me about politics, social issues, philosophy, education for sustainable development, your boy/girlfriend or...... etc., I will be happy to see you anytime.

Treasurer
Joy Han
My name is Joy, I'm in charge of JSA finance for this school year. I am a 2nd year studying international economics, trying to learn what makes the world go around. So far I know money is one of the circulation forces, and since I have the power over the green papers ((Muwahaha)) please feel free to talk to me about any new ideas you have for this year's JSA events, etc. If you are not interested in the greens, I can also cook the meat. ok, yeah, I digressed a little bit, but what I really wanted to say is that I'm looking forward to meeting all of you at our events!!!

Cultural Excahge Officer and Webmaster
Min-kyu Yang
My name is Minkyu and I am a senior Physiological Science and Anthropology double major at UCLA. I somehow joined JSA out of curiosity last year and started getting more and more involved through the events. I was born in Korea and moved to US during the high school years. I've learned my Japanese through the medias and through friends especially from JSA. I still have some problems reading Kanji, but hey, you don't need Kanji to have fun at JSA. there are tons of people who can help you learn the language and the culture so even you are an outsider, please feel free to attend one of our events. This year, I will be Cultural Exchange officer as well as the Webmaster, so if you want to do anything cultural or lend me some hand with building the website, please feel free to talk to me. But before all that, lets have fun with other JSA fellows.

Journalist
Aya Satoh
Hi everyone!! My name is Aya Satoh, and I'm a 3rd year Environmental Science major. As for my life history, here goes… I've lived in Japan for 9 years, West Lafayette, IN, USA for 7 years, and Bangkok, Thailand for 2 years, before coming to UCLA for my undergraduate studies (phew). I'm a graduate of the International School Bangkok, and since my family is still in Bangkok, I visit there all the time during vacations. Personality-wise, I can be dreamy, realistic, sarcastic, logical, nerdy, sensitive, emotional...(this list appears to continue endlessly). My interests lie in Japanese hard (visual-kei) rock and heavy metal, and video/online games (RPGs). So yeah... let's have a nice chat sometime!!

Kiyoko Nakamura
Hi! My name is Kiyoko Nakamura. I will be an officer of UCLA JSA for the upcoming year. This is my first time joining JSA. As one of the JSA members, I will try my best to contribute to the success of JSA. Hope we all can enjoy. Let's take it easy!
