Bruins’ Award Winners Honored at End of Year Banquet

            The Bruins wrapped up the 2001 season with their annual post-season banquet. Among the evening’s festivities was the honoring of the 2001 team award winners.

                        2001 UCLA Lacrosse Team Awards:

                                    Rookie of the Year: Ean Plotkin, FR, Goalie

                                    Most Improved Player: Brian Carranza, SR, Defense

                                    Most Valuable Player: Alan Kurpiewski, JR, Midfield

                                    UCLA Lacrosse Service Award: Zack Krevor, SR, Defense

 

Incoming Freshman Named US Lacrosse HS All-American

            Spencer Fivelson, a goalie from LA’s Windward School, was chosen as the Orange County, CA League’s recipient of All-America honors. Spencer, who will join the Bruins in the fall of 2001, has actually played for Coach Mike Allan before as a sophomore on the LA High School Lacrosse Club in 1999.

 

Bruins’ Middie Earns Post Season Awards

            Junior midfielder Alan Kurpiewski was named as an Honorable Mention USLIA All-American. Kurpiewski, who finished the season with 13 goals and 28 assists, was also named second team all-league in the WCLL. He was a captain for the Bruins during the 2001 season and will again lead the team as a captain in 2002.
