The organization has two primary aims. To provide basic preventative
care and patient education to the medically underserved South Asian
population and to promote issues pertaining to South Asian health.
We hope to achieve the first goal through providing basic workshops
and one-on-one patient education at South Asian events and religious
sites throughout Southern California. These sessions will gradually
expand to include a wide array of preventative health care services,
including blood pressure monitoring, diabetes screening and cholesterol
checks. A major arm of the project will involve establishing access
to free or subsidized health care for patients through a wide base
of referrals. The second goal of the project will be accomplished
through the establishment of a lecture series.
