Fair Trade

Did you know Fair Trade coffee and tea are already available in the campus coffeeshops? Fair Trade is a wonderful way to ensure that the farmers and producers of your commodities get paid a fair price for their products and labor. Through Fair Trade, farmers and cooperatives are able to get to the market more directly, and are guaranteed a fair price despite the market price which sometimes does not even cover the cost of production. Although handicrafts were the first products to be sold under the Fair Trade umbrella, it is now expanding to many commodities such as coffee, fruit, sugar, vanilla, rice, and more. By purchasing Fair Trade brands you are getting a sustainably produced item held to rigorous standards of quality. With the extra income Fair Trade provides farmers, they are able to improve their communities by building schools, improving infrastructure, and investing in modern equipment.

Fair Trade options are available in Kerckhoff, Jimmy's, Northern Lights, and more. Ask for it the next time you buy coffee or tea!

Please join us in making this socially and environmentally conscious choice, and consider bringing a reusable mug

which will save you money on coffee in the future and save many paper cups from going into landfills!
