Sorry for the late notification, but thanks to help from a lot of people, we are able to hold the annual TSA tax workshop this year despite late preparations and a stricter policy from the school about student activities. Every year, we ask Simon, a UCLA alumnus who is working as a professional accountant, to return to campus and assist us with our taxing needs. Simon is so nice that he volunteers to consult us free of charge. I suggest anyone who has taxing needs or has general questions related to taxes or accounting to take advantage of this opportunity. Plus, FREE FOOD AND DRINKS :)

What to bring:

A.Forms: (PDF file may be downloaded at www.irs.gov and www.ftb.ca.gov)

a. Non-resident aliens for tax purposes:

1. 1040NR, Federal Income Tax for non-resident aliens and

2. 540NR non-CA resident Income Tax

3. FORM 8843, for non-resident aliens/F-1/J-1

b. U.S. citizen/residents for tax purposes

1. 1040

2. 540

c. Besides the above forms, you should bring:

1. Income Statements: W-2, 1099-Int, 1099-Div, 1099-S, 1099-Misc etc..

2. 1042S (tuition statement) and/or

3. 1098E or 1098T (qualified tuition & expenses)

d. Additional forms

1. Schedule A (itemized deductions)

2. Schedule D (capital gains & Losses)

3. 8863 (Education Credit)

4. 8880 (Saver's Credit)

B. Your own laptop: We may use software to work out your tax return. It is a good and faster way to complete your return.
