11/06/8Updates for this week from your Excomm. Members:
1) Bruin Open – Thanks to everyone who came out to participate as well as helped out! We really appreciate it and we had a very successful and smooth tourney. Special thanks to Jamie Subandhi for her amazing efforts as tournament director to give UCLA badminton one of its most successful and great BO. We will be donating 10% of the proceeds to Wishing Well Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping children with illness make their wishes a reality.
2) No Club Hours – To observe Veteran's Day, the Wooden Center will be closing at 5:45 PM. There will be no club hours on that day, Tuesday, November 11, 2008.
3) Team Tryouts – Team try outs will be occurring on Friday, November 14, 2008 at club hours (5:45 PM to 7:45 PM). Team will be taking 3 courts to conduct try outs, but we encourage any and all to come try out. Please message back if you are interested.
4) Quarterly Mixed Tournament – This fall 2008 mix tournament will be held on Tuesday and Friday of 8th week (November 18 and November 21). We encourage all club members to come out and participate. You will be paired with someone in a different skill set than you and play against the rest of club members. This is a fun and club quarterly tournament where winners get prizes. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow clubers you seen but don't quite know as well as play in a no-pressure and FREE tournament. Please message back if you are interested. Because this tournament is a club event, we will utilize all courts on those days.
5) T-shirts – Our Bruin Open Tourney tee was such a hit, that we decided to order some more. If you missed the tournament and would like to purchase a shirt, please message Amy Law for size and quantity you would like. You can refer to the pictures on the photo section of our group to see the design Please note this shirt will be a green color, not the blue, and will be in 100% cotton. Special shout out to Savoeut Mom for designing it and giving us our theme: Peace. Love. Badminton.
6) UCI Badminton Camping Trip – Due to time constraints, we will not be going with UCI on their camping social as a group. However, if you do wish to attend, please message Victor Liu or facebook search this event: “Welcome to the Tent City California...such a lovely place...”
7) First Match – Our first match will be against San Louis Obispo at SLO on November 22, 2008. If you are on team, you will be attending. If you are not on team, you are welcome to come for exhibition games.
8)Cancel Tournament - UCI sotX tournament has been canceled.
