We tutor every Saturday from 9 am to 12 pm. In an effort to provide a stable learning environment for the students, we ask that each new volunteer remain in the program for at least one quarter (approximately five to six Saturdays and one field trip). No tutoring will be held during any long weekend holidays such as Thanksgiving, tenth week, or finals week.
To become a tutor, please attend one of our orientation sessions, which are held at the beginning of each quarter. If you are not able to attend one of these sessions or would like to start tutoring after we have started, fill out an online application here or contact us at projectwild@gmail.com. You do not have to know another language to volunteer.
We have beginning, intermediate, and advanced. In the beginning level, most of the students may have recently immigrated and have limited English. Their curriculum consists of vocabulary and basic grammar. At the intermediate level, most of the students are able to communicate effectively and are able to read and write. At the advanced level, students' English skills are at their grade level. Curriculum may consist of SAT material.
All of them are from elementary and middle school, with ages ranging from 8 to 14.
Each tutor will guide approximately 2 to 3 students (depending on the number of students and tutors that show up). Curriculum will be provided.
